Dr. Matthew Ford

Growing up in suburban Chicago, Dr. Ford developed an interest in animals early on. His mother was instrumental in his involvement as a volunteer at local animal shelters. Her compassion and dedication influenced his desire to make a difference in the lives of people and animals. When his father suggested that he would make a great veterinarian, something he had not previously considered, that set the path for Dr. Ford’s future.

Dr. Ford recognizes that pets bring a great deal of joy to people. He seeks to partner with people in the care of their pets with a goal that every pet is treated as well as he treats his own pets. To help achieve that goal, Dr. Ford tries to help clients understand the health care needs of their pets and how he can partner with them to meet those needs. His life philosophy is simply to be a good person and to be the best person you can be.

Throughout his life, Dr. Ford has volunteered at a variety of animal shelters. These experiences not only allowed him to help animals, but also allowed him to learn in the process. After earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, Dr. Ford completed a year of advanced training through a rotating internship program at Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. For the past 4 years, he has been practicing veterinary medicine in the northwest Chicago suburbs. He has special interests in ultrasonography, surgery, feline medicine, cardiovascular pathology, and spinal neuropathy.

When not at West Loop Veterinary Care, Dr. Ford enjoys time with his daughter, their dog, and their two cats. His parents are also an important part of Dr. Ford’s family life. In his free time, Dr. Ford enjoys salsa and swing dancing, cooking new recipes, and spending time outdoors.
