Lauren Fisher, VMD, can’t remember a time she didn’t want to be a veterinarian. Growing up on a small farm in Pennsylvania, she was surrounded by horses and lots of dogs. Her earliest memory is adopting a rescue dog, Annie. Dr. Fisher and her husband now have two beloved rescue dogs: Charlie, a four year old dalmatian mix, and Izzy a spaniel mix.
Having always had a strong interest in science, Dr. Fisher says “veterinary medicine makes a great career path for people like me who love animals and love science.” Dr. Fisher enjoys partnering with pet parents to determine what pets need to help them live happy and healthy lives. She is happy to be part of the West Loop community and to help pets and the people who love them.
Dr. Fisher earned her Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris (VMD) degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. It is the only school to award a VMD degree, which is equivalent to a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). The designation of VMD was created because the school originally was part of University’s Medical School. During her school years, Dr.Fisher served as president of the Penn Vet Dental Club. She also has strong interests in pet behavior and surgery.
