FUN STAFF FACTS

Dr. Luke once dreamed of becoming a National Geographic wildlife photographer. His childhood adventures included searching for frogs and salamanders, photographing birds, and creating animal fact books for school show and tell.

Dr. Luke

From a young age, Dr. Luke Frentsos was fascinated by animals and the natural world. One of his earliest inspirations was the PBS show Zoboomafoo, which sparked a lifelong curiosity about wildlife. Growing up, he spent time exploring the woods behind his home, searching for frogs and salamanders in the creek and photographing the birds he encountered. For a time, he even dreamed of becoming a National Geographic wildlife photographer.

As his interest in science and mathematics grew, Dr. Luke became especially drawn to the biological sciences. He created picture books filled with scientific facts about animals such as frogs, lemurs, sharks, and platypuses and brought them to school for show and tell. After growing up alongside dogs, cats, snakes, and rats, he realized veterinary medicine offered the perfect opportunity to combine his love of animals, science, and caring for others.

Dr. Luke earned his bachelor’s degree in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Miami, with minors in Chemistry, Literature, and Psychology. He later earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine.

During every appointment, Dr. Luke strives to build a strong relationship with both the patient and their person. His goal is to provide thorough, high-quality medical care while helping each patient feel as comfortable as possible. He wants clients to leave every visit feeling heard, informed, and confident in the plan for their pet’s health.

Dr. Luke believes that a person’s name represents their reputation. This philosophy encourages him to maintain a strong work ethic, practice medicine to a high standard, and continue learning throughout his career. He believes lifelong learning and avoiding complacency are essential to growing as both a person and a veterinarian.

Outside of work, Dr. Luke enjoys spending time with his fiancée, Lucia, and their dog, Lupa. Animals have always been an important part of his life, teaching him responsibility, providing companionship, and inspiring him to work hard to give his pets the best life possible. After a long day, few things are better than being welcomed home by an excited pet.
