Paula Pingue

Paula Pingue, DVM, grew up in the Philippines. There, she saw first-hand how poverty affected people and animals alike. As a child, Dr. Pingue witnessed the poor condition of stray animals and observed how their poor health also affected the health of their human neighbors. For her it was the start of witnessing the power of the human-animal bond, she came to realize the benefits to individuals and the community of well cared for companion animals. Encouraged by her parents, she provided care for the various animals she brought into their home. So, it was only natural that she would pursue a career working with animals.

Starting her career first as a Veterinary Technician, Dr. Pingue then pursued a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). While earning her DVM, Dr. Pingue was awarded membership in the Society of Phi Zeta, the only honor society for veterinary medicine. Her combined background as a technician and a veterinarian provides her with a unique perspective on the needs of not only her patients but also the people who love them.

Dr. Pingue is excited to be part of the West Loop Veterinary Care team, providing exceptional care to pets and outstanding service to people. During each appointment, she seeks to find a teaching moment to help pet owners expand their knowledge of pet care. Dr. Pingue’s veterinary interests include internal medicine and diagnostic imaging, especially ultrasonography.

A Harry Potter fan, Dr. Pingue follows the Albus Dumbledore philosophy that “Happiness can be found even at the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light.” She believes that animals are a testament that family and friends can come in all shapes and sizes. Dr. Pingue and her husband Bryan share their lives with Pearl, a poodle-mix dog; a cat named Abner, and a 10-year-old tarantula named Aragog. When not working, she enjoys baking and scary movies.
