Dr. Esser and her daughter share their lives with a rescue dog, Moki. When first adopted, Moki was malnourished and heartworm positive. After many months of great care, Moki is now a fluffy, happy and healthy dog who is enjoying city life. Although Moki is currently an only-pet, Dr. Esser has had a variety of animals including cats, dogs, horses and sheep.

FUN STAFF FACTS

During her career, Dr. Esser has worked with a full menagerie of animals, including dogs, cats, horses, cattle, alpacas, deer and even wild black bears! When she’s not working, Dr. Esser enjoys being outdoors. She and her daughter enjoy gardening and visits to local farmer’s markets and city parks. Dr. Esser keeps active by biking and cross-country skiing.

Erica Esser

Dr. Erica Esser grew up in Chicago, IL . She clearly remembers when she was inspired to become a veterinarian. She was seven years old and her father took her to the Wisconsin State Fair. There, she had the opportunity to observe a veterinarian perform a spay procedure on an animal. She immediately decided that she would be a veterinarian when she grew up. The idea of being able to combine her love of science and getting to work with animals kept her focused on her goal throughout high school, college and veterinary school.

Dr. Esser, who is known for her warm smile, takes great pride in making sure the needs of each pet, and the goals of each pet owner, are met during veterinary visits. She especially enjoys partnering with pet owners to help them keep their pets at their healthiest. She is devoted to geriatric care and helping senior pets be comfortable and live the best life possible. A strong believer in lifelong learning, Dr. Esser is committed to keeping up with the latest science and putting her knowledge to work for pets and the people who love them.
