Dr. Hajela’s passion for helping animals started at a young age. Spending summers in India, she was deeply impacted by the number of stray animals on the streets and often found herself tending to their wounds or bringing them to local veterinarians. Witnessing the compassion and dedication of those veterinarians inspired her to pursue a career where she could advocate for animals and make a difference in their lives. She hopes to one day return to India to work with non-profit organizations that care for stray animals.

Dr. Hajela’s academic journey took her from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, to NC State University, where she completed her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Her experiences have shaped her approach to patient care, always striving to provide the highest standard of medicine while making sure every client feels informed and supported.

She is dedicated to building strong, trusting relationships with both pets and their people. Dr. Hajela sees every patient visit as an opportunity to work together with owners in making the best decisions for their pet’s health and well-being.

Her personal philosophy, that everything happens for a reason, guides her both inside and outside of the exam room. Whether facing a challenging diagnosis or enjoying a routine visit, she focuses on learning, growing, and finding ways to make a positive impact.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Hajela is a foodie and avid traveler. She loves exploring new places and is always looking for restaurant recommendations. At home, she enjoys spending time with her two cats, Loki and Quill, who are her constant companions and the best part of coming home.
