During her time at a wildlife center in Connecticut, Dr. Reuter cared for an array of native animals including bobcats, foxes, and birds of prey. Among these, her favorite was a charming, abandoned baby turkey. After receiving her dedicated care, this turkey found a new home at the Audubon Society, thriving in its natural habitat!

Dr. Nicole Reuter

From a young age, Dr. Reuter was drawn to working with animals, inspired by dreams of wildlife conservation and environmental science. Her path was greatly influenced by the “Starfish Story,” a tale highlighting the importance of individual animal care, leading her to adopt a personalized approach in veterinary medicine. Dedicated to making a difference one pet at a time, Dr. Reuter focuses on educating pet owners and providing holistic, compassionate care during patient visits.

Dr. Reuter’s academic journey is marked by excellence, earning a Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris from the University of Pennsylvania College of Veterinary Medicine, and completing an internship at the Schwarzman Animal Medical Center. She holds certifications in Fear Free, Animal Hospice and Palliative Care, highlighting her dedication to comprehensive and empathetic veterinary techniques.

Her professional experience extends well beyond traditional veterinary practice, from volunteering at the Belize Wildlife & Referral Clinic, working with exotic animals, to a Wildlife Center in Connecticut where she cared for native species. These experiences have enriched her expertise in animal care and rehabilitation.

In her free time, Dr. Reuter enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, and paddleboarding, as well as exploring various foods and wines. Having recently moved to Chicago with her cat Aster, she is excited to experience all the city has to offer!
